Privacy notice

The short version

• What you type into our request forms (the "submit your product idea" form and the short form on our landing pages) stays in your own browser until you choose to send it.
• You decide whether to email your request to us or download a copy. Nothing is sent automatically.
• This website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers, and it loads nothing from other companies' servers.
• You can delete what's saved in your browser at any time.

Who we are

What you share with us

The "submit your product idea" form asks for:

• Your product: its stage, category, a description, who it's for, what help you want, and the sales channels you have in mind.
• Your goals and situation: your goal, budget range, how it's funded, timeline and intellectual property status.
• About you: first and last name, email, and optionally your phone number, company, website or social link, and how you heard about us.
• Your agreement that we may store your details and contact you about the request.

The short request form on our landing pages asks for:

• Your first name and email, and optionally your phone number.
• On our product pages, where your product is today: just an idea, a prototype or finished design, or already selling.
• A line or two about your product or, on our website pages, about what you need.
• On our website pages only: optionally the address of your current website, which we keep as plain text and this website never visits. The local-government and school pages also ask for the name of your organization (required) and optionally your role or job title.
• Your agreement that we may store your details and contact you about the request.

If you use the Retail Readiness Scorecard first, the answers you gave to its questions are saved with your request, and the request is marked as coming from the scorecard. The scorecard shows you a result worked out in your browser from those answers; that result is included in the email or download if you send it.

In either form, please describe your idea at a high level. You don't need to include confidential details.

A priority rating for your request. For the full "submit your product idea" form, we also record a priority rating for your request, based on your answers (for example, how far along the product is, and your timeline and budget). It helps us decide which requests to review first. It is saved with your request in your browser, and it isn't included in the email or download. The short landing-page form doesn't add a priority rating.

Where your information goes today

Saved in your browser. As you fill in the "submit your product idea" form, your answers are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device, so you can come back to them. When you finish, a copy of your request is saved there too, along with the recommendation shown to you and the priority rating described above. The short landing-page form saves nothing while you type: only when you submit it is a copy of your request saved in your browser's local storage, and the next page tells you it is ready to send. None of these items are sent to our servers by this website.

If you choose to send it. The result page, or the thank-you page after the short form, offers a button that opens your email app with a summary of your request, and a button to download a copy. If you send the email, it travels through your own email provider to us. We receive only what you send.

Technical details saved with your request. Alongside your answers, your browser stores the page you submitted from, the website you came from (the site name only, not the full address), any campaign tags in the link you used to reach us, which page or button brought you to the form, which version of the page wording you saw, and whether you used the email or download buttons. For the short landing-page form it also saves which service page you were on and, if you arrived from an ad, an ad-click identifier: a code that the ad platform adds to the link, with a name such as gclid or fbclid. This website only reads that code from the address of the page; it doesn't set cookies or load the ad platform's tools. These details stay in your browser with the request; some of them are included in the email or download if you send it.

We do not currently connect this form to any outside service. If we do in future, for example a customer relationship management system, we will update this notice first and ask for your agreement where required.

Cookies, analytics and other companies

This website does not set cookies and does not run analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. Fonts, images and code are served from the website itself, and the pages do not embed maps, videos or other outside content.

This site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like most hosts, Cloudflare may keep standard server logs, such as your IP address and the pages requested, for a limited time under its own privacy policy.

How we use what you send us

If you send us a request, we use it to review your product idea, decide whether we're a fit and contact you about next steps.

Your choices

• Delete what's saved in your browser. Use "Clear my saved details from this browser" on the result page or the thank-you page, or clear this site's data in your browser settings.
• Ask us to delete a request you sent. Contact us at the privacy address above and tell us which request.
• Don't send it at all. You can leave either form at any point. Nothing leaves your browser unless you email or download it yourself.

Changes to this notice

If how the website handles your information changes, we'll update this page and its date before the change goes live.
