UPC

Universal Product Code

The 12-digit barcode scanned at checkout, used mainly in North American retail. It carries the product’s GTIN.

Why it matters for a product launch

Retailers generally require a valid barcode on each item, so get your numbers from GS1 before the packaging artwork is final.
